EFFIGY
About
Effigy is the studio's first major game project. A 2D action roguelike with deliberate, demanding combat — inspired by Souls-likes but native to the top-down format.
The world combines dark fantasy aesthetics with biopunk undertones: bone, sinew, ritual, malformed tech. The protagonist is an artificial body — an effigy — animated by forces it doesn't fully understand.
What we're after
- Combat that rewards reading the opponent over button-mashing
- A small, hand-authored world with high density
- Pixel art that earns its style — not retro for nostalgia's sake
- A loop you can finish in a sitting but want to repeat
Status
Currently in pre-production. We're prototyping the core combat loop, locking down the pixel-art direction, and laying out the first biome.
The repo is private during pre-production. We'll open up devlogs as the project matures.
